The day we arrived, vma pre show we would have been sitting on a rooftop restaurant with views of the Taj Mahal, and relax a bit. Unfortunately vma pre show we arrived the same day as a major pilgrimage festival ended. It lasted 10 days and ended with huge parade through the city, loud music and a lot of drunk people. So our driver and the staff at the hostel vma pre show do not think it was the best thing to send us white people out in. So instead, it was a quiet night in your room.
The next morning, we were up early, however, and took off to see the marble wonder in the morning light. It is very popular to go in and see the Taj Mahal just around sunrise and sunset as we were of course not the only ones who had the idea. But big it was, and really really nice. It is hard to imagine how huge it really is. And when you top it should imagine how they built it for almost 400 years ago, then it is not going to understand.
Later in the day, we passed a shop where they worked in marble, and we were allowed to see what it was cutting marble - the way they make patterns with various semi-precious stones in the marble. Patterns as all the marble Taj Mahal is covered. And for those who have not tried to cut in marble, we can say that it is crazy hard and it takes a lot of practice to be able to do it accurately. So it is no wonder that it took over 20 years and 20,000 men to complete the Taj Mahal.
In addition to the Taj Mahal so we also have a fort / palace in Agra, and something called the Baby Taj - a small marble-work, but with more detail, and the same in style, but was built before the Taj Mahal.
Late in the afternoon we went to the train station, and thus the end of our package solution. We said goodbye to our dear Mr. driver. Singh, who gave us the last notes along the way, and so we sat else to wait for our train arrived.
Now, train stations always a huge market of people who either come, go or live there, but in India, there is also a special kind of residents at train stations. (They are certainly also in Dk, but there is just a little more down here ...) Look closely at the picture below and see if you can find the most diverse resident at the station :)
